What it does

AI picks the standouts

Point it at a clip and it surfaces the frames worth a second look, scored on sharpness, expression and overall appeal. The Top 3 view cuts straight to the best of them.

Or step through it yourself

Switch to manual and move frame by frame. The AI keeps marking the stronger segments on the timeline, so you still see where to look without being forced into its choice.

Zoom in before you commit

Check focus, a blink, the exact moment a ball leaves a hand. The frame you save is the one you actually inspected.

Live Photos too

Not just video files — any Live Photo in your library is fair game, which is where a lot of nearly-good shots are hiding.

One tap to Photos

Save straight to the photo library or send it out through the share sheet. Camera metadata — date, location, camera info — can be carried over or stripped.

Nothing leaves the phone

All the analysis runs on-device. No upload, no account, and your library stays your library.

How it works

  1. 1

Pick a video or Live Photo

Anything in your library, including clips you shot years ago.

  2. 2

Let it scan, or browse yourself

Take the Top 3 the AI suggests, or switch to manual and walk the timeline frame by frame with its hints still visible.

  3. 3

    Save the frame

Zoom in to confirm, then export to Photos or share it — with or without the original metadata.

Questions

How does the AI decide which frames are best? +

It scores frames on several signals at once — sharpness, facial expression and general visual appeal — and surfaces the highest scoring ones. Taste is subjective, so treat the picks as a shortlist rather than a verdict: the final choice stays with you.

Can I ignore the AI and choose a frame myself? +

Yes. Manual mode lets you move through the clip frame by frame. The AI-favoured segments stay marked on the timeline as a hint, but nothing stops you from saving any frame you like.

Does it work with Live Photos? +

Yes. Live Photos are handled the same way as video, which is useful because a Live Photo often contains a better moment than the still that was captured.

What quality is the saved image? +

The frame is exported at the resolution of the source video, so a 4K clip yields a 4K still. Nothing is re-encoded beyond writing the image itself.

Is my video uploaded anywhere? +

No. Everything runs on the device, so your footage never leaves the iPhone and no account is required.

Does it keep the photo's date and location? +

That is your call. A toggle on the export panel copies the original metadata — date, location and camera info — onto the saved frame, or leaves it off.

Is Frame Grabber free? +

The app is free to download from the App Store. Some capabilities are unlocked through an in-app purchase; the current terms are always shown inside the app before you buy.
